Every person has a collection of scars; some are internal and some are visually obvious. Many people, myself included, have both. These experiences are what make people and characters interesting; scars are stories to be told. They give depth, and they explain why someone is how they are, or why they like (or don’t, for that matter) like certain things. Using these stories can benefit both the role-play and development of your character. Making those flaws on your sheet really mean something can create great conversation starters, leading to memorable roleplay. Also, if you play a Gangrel like I do, telling your story at the fire will get you some renown.
Name: Bonnie Lin Cyr
Home Chronicle: Blackened Veins, Portland, Maine
What do you do when you are not gaming: I’m an avid environmentalist and Naturalist and I am working towards a secondary set of Clergy credentials within my religious Fellowship.
Favorite Clan/Tribe: Noblesse oblige, baby. Ventrue Scepters unite!
Why you love OWbN: I started playing in OWbN during an incredibly tumultuous time in my life. A new friend and fellow player at the time exposed me to it, and at first it was way of dealing with intense social anxiety and agoraphobia. Over the years that followed, it became a social network of strong friends and even stronger experiences, which helped keep me going as I made my way through an adult world. I can look back on those collected experiences and be grateful for the lessons and situations – both positive and negative – that have shaped who I am and that have helped me become a strong volunteer for the organization.
Why you are an OWbN Girl: I’m an OWbN Girl because I believe in giving back to the Organization that has given me so much. As much as I was supported and empowered by others, I want to return as much of that energy as I am able. I believe that all people should be treated with extreme kindness, support, and compassion, and being an OWbN Girl allows me to reach out and empower other gamers to make positive and encouraging changes in this and other organizations.
Hidden Talent/Something People Do Not Know: I consider myself extremely musically inclined - to the point of being able to pick up just about any instrument I can think of and play it. I have a really heady passion for music of all audible makes and kinds.
Favorite memory in OWbN: There are far too many to choose from for me. Every moment I get to interact or play with a friend is a favored and cherished memory; the feeling you get when everyone is immersed in the moment and you just ‘click’ in place – that feeling is amazing and irreplaceable.
The new IC announcement + Status Registration for Grand Elysium!
Citizens of the Glorious Ivory Tower,
I, Prince Brighton Hughes of the Domain of Columbus, invite all Kindred to a join myself and the residents of my city in celebration of our Sect and Traditions. Beginning at Dusk on 4th day of the month of Julius Ceasar, and ending at Dawn the Monday following, Hospitality will be granted to all Kindred of peaceful intent who properly request it.
As I reach an advanced age among our Kind, I find myself contemplating the Kindred journey through the Ages more and more frequently. I never once picked up a book for knowledge while I drew breath, and did not attain literacy well in to my first Century of unliving existence. The first real book placed in my hands was a copy of the Divine Comedy. I doubt I understood it then, but as the centuries have passed I have grown to appreciate Dante’s journey more and more. I postulate this to all Kindred, is not every Sin Avarice and is not every Virtue Charity? The Beast defines our greed, it wants all, and would try to take all if we let it. All the blood, all the power, all the territory. The Beast is Greed, and that is a part of every one of us. But we are not the beast. We show temperance, and wisdom, and yes, even Charity in our struggle to keep what is Human alive in us.
As such, I proclaim the following for our Grand Elysium:
Thursday July the 4th. Expect an evening of the subdued and relaxing. Muted tones are expected and a quiet reception will be had for those joining us on the first night.
Friday July the 5th, Avarice. Indulge a little, haven’t you earned it? Embrace vice and excess as we heat up the gathering in fiery reds, oranges and yellows. A priest will be available should you require confession afterwards.
Saturday July the 6th, Charity. Embrace the better angels of your nature, as even for the most wicked of us, I assure you they exist. Brilliant whites and blues will dot the gathering and the most impressive items our Kind has to offer will be auctioned to benefit the less fortunate of the world.
To RSVP please provide your Name, Standing (or Affiliation if not a member of the Camarilla), Clan and contact information here: http://goo.gl/pEBcU
Contact information for your Clans and additional details on the Event will be provided in further communications.
